Spanish lyric tenor Juan Noval-Moro has made specialties of the high lyric operatic repertoire and contemporary music. He pursued his studies in singing and musicology in Oviedo (Spain), Mainz (Germany) and Rome with Thomas Dewald, Renata Scotto (Opera Studio of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia), Teresa Berganza, Giacomo Aragall, Raina Kavaibanska, Chris Merritt and Daniel Muñoz.


A prizewinner in the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg (Germany), Clermont-Ferrand International Singing Competition (France), and Trofeo La Fenice, Mr. Noval-Moro made his operatic debut in Aix-en-Provence Opera Festival in The Love for Three Oranges and La Traviata, conducted by Daniel Harding. His credits include Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos in Oviedo (Spain), Tamino in Frankfurt and Rüsselsheim, Don Narciso in La fontana del placer conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado in Madrid, Elvino cover/Il Notaro in La Sonnambula conducted by Kent Nagano in Montreal, Edgardo in Madrid, Ernesto in Logroño (Spain), The Love for Three Oranges conducted by Tugan Sokhiev in Luxembourg, Lindoro in Nina conducted by Franceso Lanzilotta in Rome, Don Narciso in Las labradoras de Murcia in Saint Petersburg, Giocondo in Il burbero di buon cuore in Maiz and Ludwigsburg (Germany), Xenophon in Telemann´s Der geduldige Sokrates in Rheinsberg (Germany), Hemeris in Covadonga in Oviedo, and Lehrbub in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in Frankfurt.  He has participated in concerts and operatic productions with such conductors as Sylvain Cambreling, Plácido Domingo, and Pablo Heras-Casado, and with such singers as Sumi Jo, June Anderson, Rolando Villazón, and Marie McLaughlin.


An experienced oratorio artist, Mr. Noval-Moro has performed the tenor solo parts in Rossini´s Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennele, Verdi’s Requiem, Bach´s Johannes-Passion (Evangelist) and Magnificat, Mozart´s Requiem and Mass in C-minor, Haendel’s Messiah, Caldara´s La Passione di Gesù Cristo Signor Nostro, Janacek´s Otcenas, Gounod´s Messe de Sainte-Cécile and Requiem, Bizet´s Te Deum, Saint-Saëns´ Oratorio de Noël, Stravinsky´s Mass in C, Ramírez´s Misa Criolla and Navidad Nuestra, Pau Casals´ El Pessebre, Schubert´s Mass in G, and Beethoven´s Chorfantasie C-Moll.  His recital activity has taken him to many European and North American concert venues, such as Philharmonie Berlin, Prinzregenttheater Munich, Misteria Paschalia Festival (Cracovia), Alte Oper Frankfurt, Festival Bel Canto in Knowlton (Canada), Auditorium Parco della Musica (Rome), Filharmonia Krakowska (Cracovia), Auditoriums of Granada and Oviedo, Teatro Jovellanos of Gijón, Palacio de Festivales de Santander, Die Glocke in Bremen, Auditorium Chabrier (Clermont-Ferrand) and others.


In the recent seasons Mr. Noval-Moro has been highly visible in the European contemporary music scene, performing Chuck/Doctor in world premiere of Phillip Glass’s The Perfect American at Madrid’s Teatro Real, conducted by Dennis Russell Davies, the title role in the world premiere of Pawel Mykietyn’s King Lear in the Sacrum Profanum Festival (Cracovia), conducted by Marek Mos, Doctor Krokowsky in Mykietyn’s The Magic Mountain (Malta Festival Poznan, Cracovia, Katowice, Warsaw, Nuremberg), Amy Wurtz’s Message From the Soul, the Spanish Zarzuela Maharajá composed by Guillermo Martínez and other works by composers such as Pascal Dusapin, Wolfgang Rihm or Krzysztof Penderecki.

His recent productions include three outstanding world premieres: Laurent Petitgirard’s opera Guru (Castle Opera Szczecin, Poland), Angel del Castillo’s opera Antífrida (Madrid), and his debut in the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in Benet Casablanca’s L’Enigma di Lea.
